QUALITY STANDARDS
AND ENVIRONMENTAL
POLICY

All products are sourced, caught and/or processed by vessels and in factories which are compliant with applicable local legislation. The majority are EU approved from catching all the way through to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) approved factories and storage facilities. All local suppliers and foreign sourced products are tested locally by the NRCS (among the highest standards globally). Without exception, every container is tested, and a certificate of compliance is issued by the NRCS. Our large supplier base is built on long term relationships and all our products are received from trusted, registered, quota- and permit-holding sources.

TRANSFORMATION

We believe transformation should be about making a truly meaningful contribution, rather than just ticking boxes. And that’s exactly what we did in 2016, when Atlantis Seafood Products was sold to the Atlantis Workers’ Trust. This broad-based BEE transaction resulted in 100% of the company’s economic rights being transferred to the Atlantis community members, the majority being previously disadvantaged black women. In 2019, we took it one step further and sold Khanyisile Fishing to the Khanyisile Employee Trust in another broad-based deal. This again had a huge impact on the Atlantis community, improving livelihoods and facilitating economic upliftment.

Certifications
and accreditations

Compliance is extremely important to us, and food safety is one of our pillars. Our distribution arm, Atlantis Seafood Distributors, holds an FSA (Food Safety Assessment) certificate for the cold stores in Montague Gardens, along with MSC/ASC (Marine Stewardship Council / Aquaculture Stewardship Council) chains of custody. Our strategic factory partners in Atlantis comply with the highest food safety standards certifications, including HACCP, EU accreditation, IFS (International Featured Standards), Halaal, Kosher, MSC/ASC chains of custody, OHS and the Spanish Retail Decalogue food safety criteria.
